The Stopping Power of Pistol Ammunition

The conventional way to describe the power of a firearm/ammunition combination is by the muzzle energy.

This is misleading when comparing high powered pistols and I believe that a fairer way is to use the "Taylor Knockout Formula" or TKO.

This arbitrary formula developed by the African hunter, John (Pondoro) Taylor, takes into account calibre and bullet mass and to my mind TKO figures are more realistic for making comparisons among the larger pistol calibres, particularly those with rather blunt bullet shape.

There are other arbitrary methods of comparison [details to be added later]
